Floatin' the ditch

One of the many benefits of living in the country! Floatin' the ditch (irrigation ditch that is!!!)

Swamp Tours

We went on a swamp tour. People actually live in these houses miles from land...the average age of the swamp people...86 years! Cajun Jack here was our guide and was quite the comic relief!

A Week of No Wiping

Did I mention that we left our kids with Grandma's & Grandpa's for the week. I did miss them but I did not have to wipe anyone's nose, face, hands, or bottoms for a whole week! Bliss!

Lousiana Mission Trip

We just returned from a mission trip to Lousiana! It was quite the experience! I felt a little bit guilty calling it a mission trip because I had such a great time...although the humidity certainly should qualify as some sort of suffering for Jesus! We took the high school youth group and they all loved it also. They were a great group to have on a trip like this and I really enjoyed watching God work in and through them!!!

Finally a new post!!!

Yes, ladies & gents the moment you've all been waiting for...a new post on Colburn Comedy!

Silver Egg Championship

Micah on the other hand is the epidomy of competition, energy, & sports. No matter what we are doing he can turn it into a race, or sporting event of some kind. Take for example the Easter Egg Hunt...he was not in the slightest bit interested in nicely picking up easter eggs and sticking them in his basket...he knew that if he found the gold or silver egg first, then he would get a prize. So while all the other nice little boys and girls are peacefully picking up eggs and putting them in their baskets...Micah is RACING around the small section of grass designated for his age group and frantically searching for that Gold or Silver egg. He occasionally picked up an egg (purely for the candy factor) but he was intent on one thing and one thing ONLY! And his hard work paid off...He has successfully found the gold or silver egg for three years in a row! No one else even knew that the competition was so stiff...or that this even was a competition but Micah has no doubt.

Easter Program

Alysha is quite the character. her performance in the Easter program epitimizes her personality. She sometimes walks around the house singing her conversations and dancing to emphasize her point.

Christmas Kids

SNOW!!!

And that's not even all that we have. This was the first BIG snow storm. Now our piles are over 12 feet tall where the snow plow has been piling it up.

Racing to See Santa

At the annual Trout Lake School Christmas program the elementary school kids sang "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and wha-la guess who showed up right then? Santa. The MC for the evening then announced that the littlest people get to go first and that Santa's helper's would have a present for all the kids who came to see Santa. So Alysha promptly gets up from her seat with us on the bleachers (the farthest ones from the spot Santa was going to be greeting kids) before the announcer is even finished with his instructions and RACES down the bleachers and across the entire length of the gym, in front of the entire town of Trout Lake + grandparents etc... and gets to Santa before he has even sat down to begin. She heard "littlest people get to go first" and "presents" and she was GONE!!!
